Hi family and friends :-)
I am writing this from the balcony of our hotel. Theo is asleep. It's early here but I couldn't sleep. I must still be getting used to the local time and perhaps just the excitement of it all. I would like a coffee, but I have to wait for breakfast when it is free. So, what a perfect time to get writing!
We have made it to the lovely Bali. We had a pretty easy flight and the airport wasn't nearly as scary as I had anticipated. Until we were the last ones standing at the carousel waiting for Theo's bag! Air Asia didn't have any answers to where it could be..
Our driver was picking us up at 3pm and we didn't get out until after 4pm as we had to fill in report forms etc. Lucky he waited for us.
Day three and we are still handwashing and hanging the only clothes Theo has at the moment. Which is hard here in Bali because you want to change 3 times a day! The humidity is crazy.
Yesterday we had breakfast early and ventured out to hire a scooter. We managed to hire one for 30.000 IDR which is just $3 NZ. It's crazy cheap here! Off we went on our scooter to the airport. I wasn't allowed through security with Theo so he had to go in on his own. He found out that the luggage was left in Melbourne. It's flying today to Kuala Lumpar and then it is getting transferred to Bali where we should be able to pick it up today around 2.30. Fingers crossed!!!
After our drive to the airport we decided to head to Sanur beach for lunch - it was beautiful! Mains are about $3-5 here in Bali. Then we headed back to Seminyak where we are staying in a nice (air-conditioned) hotel and had a swim. We are staying in the centre of Seminyak. It's loud but fun! There are scooters and taxis everywhere - no road rules - everyone just toots to let you know they are there. Intersections are scary..you just have to go for it and hope they stop!
We ended the day with a traditional Balinese massage ($3) and dinner at a well known local restaurant.\
Today we are checking out of our hotel and we are headed to Ubud (less chaotic - known as Bali's art and cultural hub. It is surrounded by rain forests, rice paddies and Hindu temples). First of course we will be heading to the airport to find this missing luggage!!
All is good :-)
Love and miss you all xxx
