Udaipur

I wrote this post a couple of days ago so it's slightly out of date :) We have arrived in Kochin, Kerala xx

Udaipur has been wonderful. A total different experience to both Goa and Jaipur. Surrounded by Pichola lake, we have been staying in an area that has small, narrow streets which only fits scooters and the odd tuktuk. It has a much more chilled, boho vibe around here and the people are very happy. There are lots of children running and playing freely down the streets and elderly sit in their doorways all day long greeting us with 'namaste' and bowing their heads.

Udaipur is famous for being part of the James Bond film Octopussy and the locals are extremely proud. Most restaurants play the film every night. The 5 star hotel that sits in the middle of the lake is the main attraction from the film, along with Monsoon Palace.

It is also well known for it's art. There are many art shops scattered around with the most amazing artwork. Artists have also decorated the city with their art around doorways and alleys. There are various art schools here so we decided to take an art class on Wednesday evening by a local art teacher. It took us two and a half hours to produce our work because the details and brushes they use are so incredibly fine!

We are very impressed with the range of food and coffee here too. So far in India when we have ordered coffee we have been delivered what looks and tastes like warm milk but here we have managed to find actual, real espresso. Most restaurants are rooftop with views of the lake.

We celebrated Theo's 30th birthday at a restaurant next to the lake :-)

Tomorrow we fly to Kerala where we plan to visit the tea fields in Munnar, backwaters in Allepy and Varkala beach. We still have a lot of time before our flight to Sri Lanka so we may fly earlier depending on what Kerala has to offer.

Love to all that reads this xxx

Here's a picture of Theo's little buddy. We visited this restaurant to feed him daily. He wasn't owned by anyone but hangs around the restaurant/bridge. Theo googled how to take a dog from India home. Bless.

Hello :-)

Hello Everyone! Sorry we have been away from the computer the last few days! Both Theo and I have been unwell with a bad tummy bug :-S We were trapped in our Bangkok accommodation for about three days! Luckily we were able to do some exploring before and after all of this, and we are now at the airport heading to Chiang Mai for the week. Bangkok has been pretty chaotic, we started out just off Khaosan Road which is the backpackers central. In his element ordering Thai street food (Probably what made him sick !!) We then moved to a quieter area but still close to everything. We took the boat ferry for 14 Baht each ( 60 cents ) to the Grand Palace. What a beautiful place! But as usual, packed with tourists! On the boat taxi We saw a Symphony Orchestra in the park More updates to come. Miss and love you all xxx

Travel changes and update! :-)

Hello :-) We have made some decisions in the last week and have now got some plans set in stone. Tomorrow we fly to Colombo, Sri Lanka. We had planned on staying a whole month but we are now only staying about ten days. Apparently this is a nice amount of time to see the sights of Sri Lanka and we are both keen on getting on the homestretch! Our next destination is Boracay Island in the Phillipines. We are flying there via Kuala Lumpar on the 28th of September and plan to stay for around 5 full days/7 days including travel. Not booked yet, but in the making is our flight from Boracay to Melbourne (5th October...?) We think we will stay in Melbourne and visit family for about a week and then... we are coming HOME!!! :-) See you soon! xxxx G & T
