Cat Ba Island and Halong Bay

Hello! We have been on Cat Ba Island where we booked a day tour around Lan Ha Bay and Halong Bay. Unfortunately, the weather has been colder than usual and very foggy. But we still made the most of it!

It really is a beautiful place! We paid just $23 each which got us a mini bus to and from the port, tickets to both the national parks, a whole day tour on the boat, a very large lunch, a trek up monkey island and free kayaks!

We hired a scooter for a day and explored the island.

Hospital Cave - Used as a secret bomb-proof hospital and safe house during the American war. Very spooky!

Very funny Theo... thought he'd leave me on the side of the road..

Tomorrow we are getting a bus to Sapa at 7am. Sapa is a town in the Hoang Lien Son Mountains of northwest Vietnam. It is full of rice fields and very popular for trekking ( hoping the weather holds out for us!) We are very much hoping that it all goes well after our last bus ride!! Thankfully there is a toilet on this one:-)

We will stay in Sapa for a few nights, come back to Hanoi and fly to Ho Chi Minh City, where we leave for San Fransisco on the morning of 29th.

Love to everyone!

Xx G

Out of reception

Hello all :-) Just a post to let you know we may be out of reception the next few days. We are heading to an island called Koh Ta Kiev . We are pretty sure they don't have reception or Internet. We think we will be staying at accommodation called Crusoe Island. So, if contact is needed urgently, look them up (crusoeisland.asia) and they have a couple of numbers and email available. Love to you all xxx  The picture below is one of the lady's that walk around the beach with fruit on their heads. They cut it up and put it in a little bag with a skewer for you :-) mmmmmm
